A2/1 Standard wheel orders Ordenes normalizadas al timón
All wheel orders given should repeated by the helmsman and the officer of the watch should ensure that they are carried out correctly and inmediately. All wheel orders should be held until countermanded. The helmsman should report inmediately if the vessel does not answer the wheel. Todas las órdenes dadas al timón serán repetidas para el timonel, y el oficial de la guardia se asegurará de que se cumplen correcta e inmediatamente. When there is concern that the helmsman is inattentive he/she should be questioned: “What is your heading?” Cuando exista el temor de que el timonel esté distraído, se le dirigirá la pregunta siguiente: “¿Cuál es su rumbo?”
And he/she should respond: “My heading is... degrees.” La respuesta debe ser: “Mi rumbo es de... grados.”
Order Meaning Significado
1. Midships (Rudder to be held in the fore and aft position) A la vía (Llevar el timón y mantenerlo en la posición de proa-popa)
2. Port/ starboard five (5° of port/ starboard rudder to be held.) A babor/estribor cinco grados (Meter el timón 5° a babor/ estribor y mantenerlo así.)
3. Port/ starboard ten (10° of port/ starboard rudder to be held) A babor/estribor diez grados (Meter el timón 10° a babor/estribor y mantenerlo así.)
4. Port/ starboard fifteen (15° of port/ starboard rudder to be held.) A babor/estribor quince grados (Meter el timón 15° a babor/estribor y mantenerlo así.)
5. Port/ starboard twenty (20° of port/ starboard rudder to be held.) A babor/estribor veinte grados (Meter el timón 20° a babor/estribor y mantenerlo así.)

When the officer of the watch requires a course to be steered by compass, the direction in which s/he wants the wheel turned should be stated followed by each numeral being said separately, including zero, for example: Cuando el oficial de guardia quiera gobernar a un rumbo por el compás, indicará la banda de metida de la caña y luego dirá cada número por separado, incluido el cero, por ejemplo:

On receipt of an order to steer, for example, 182°, the helmsman should repeat it and bring the vessel round steadily to the course ordered. When the vessel is steady on the course ordered, the helmsman is to call out: “Steady on one eight two”. Al recibir la orden para gobernar, por ejemplo, 182°, el timonel la repetirá y hará caer el buque hasta ponerse al rumbo ordenado. Cuando el buque esté al rumbo ordenado, el timonel dará la voz de: “Derecho al uno ocho dos”.
The person giving the order should acknowledge the helmsman’s reply. La persona que dio la orden contestará mostrándose de acuerdo con la respuesta del timonel.
If it is desired to steer on a selected mark the helmsman should be ordered to: “Steer on... bouy/... mark/... beacon”. Si se desea poner rumbo a una marca determinada, se ordenará al timonel: “Proa a la boya.../ marca/baliza...”
